Burning Off the Turkey & Gravy in Reva, VA

November 28, 2016

We made our way back up to Virginia to spend Thanksgiving and managed to squeeze in some agility time at a local trial.  First, here's a little revisit of our fun week in Alexandria, VA with our daughter and her boyfriend. The food, family and friends were all wonderful but we had to "let them win" a few games; good thing competitiveness doesn't run in the family! The things we do for our kids!

We met some great folks over the course of the weekend in Reva, VA and will definitely be adding this stop to our calendar in 2017. Needless to say, Southern hospitality was really at its best. Viper and I had a lot of fun running each of the courses by John Defilippi, who is one of this year's NAC judges.

A Few Tips

#1

Have fun! This is unequivocally the most important tip to remember. If you and/or your dog are not having fun, it's time to take a pa(ws).

#2

Set small goals! There is so much to learn in this sport and so much to remember while running a course at MACH speed. Focus on honing one specific skill at each practice or trial.

#3

Hit the road! Really. You might be comfortable trialing locally, but it's important to get exposure: new courses, new environments, and new handlers (who are bound to have some helpful feedback for you and your dog).
